The Galena Park Yellowjackets have found their next head coach and as it turns out, they didn’t have to turn very far. Per Matt Stepp, Galena Park has hired George Young as their next head coach. Young was previously the defensive line coach at Galena Park North Shore.
Young takes over for Dave Handal, who went 12-27 in four seasons. The Yellowjackets went 2-8 in 2016 and have not made the playoffs since 2010.
Young also becomes the second North Shore assistant to take a head coaching job during this offseason. Former assistant head coach Derek Fitzhenry was hired as the next head at Sheldon King earlier this month.
