The list continues to grow of commits to the 2018 Under Armour All-American Game and now one of the top-ranked receivers in Texas has joined that list. Houston Lamar wide receiver Al’vonte Woodard announced his commitment to play in that game on Tuesday.

Woodard becomes the fourth Texan within the last month to be selected to the game, joining Cy Springs safety Leon O’Neal, Schertz Clemens wide receiver Tommy Bush and Cibolo Steele safety Caden Sterns.

2016 was a breakout year for the rising senior, finishing with 35 catches for 792 yards and impressive 14 touchdowns. His play earned him the District 18-6A MVP after being named a first team all-district performer during his sophomore season in 2015. Woodard was a top receiver on a very talented Texans offense that made a run to the Class 6A Division I regional semifinals before falling to state semifinalist Atascocita.

Currently, the four-star recruit has offers from 26 schools across the country, but released his Top 10 list earlier this month. Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor are all the in state schools that Woodard is considering, along with LSU, Ohio State and defending national champion Clemson.

Woodard is also one of several highly-touted seniors that are returning to the Texans in 2017, including running back Ta’zhawn Henry, cornerbacks Anthony Cook and D’Shawn Jamison and defensive lineman Joshua Landry.

There’s still a lot of time between now and the start of the 2017 Texas high school football season, but with Woodard and his teammates returning, it could be a big year for the Texans. In the meantime, Woodard will have one more opportunity to show fans what he can do at the end of his high school playing career and wherever he ends up, that school will be very happy to have a standout wide receiver in the fold for 2018.
