4-star WR Joshua Moore Is A Must-Land For Texas A&M

On June 18, elite Yoakum wide receiver will finally bring his storied recruitment to a close, choosing between Florida State, Nebraska and Texas A&M. With 53 offers, Moore has been the nation’s most sought-after 2018 prospect and for a variety of reasons, he’s a must-land for Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies.

Despite the recent commitments of safety Leon O’Neal Jr. and defensive end Max Wright, the Aggies can certainly afford further momentum on the recruiting trail. Pairing O’Neal and Wright with kicker Seth Small accounts for the only three 2018 commits Texas A&M has reeled in since the start of the new year, and three commits in five and a half months isn’t exactly up to standard, especially when in-state competition such as Texas and Baylor are reeling recruits in left and right.

Depending on how the next 10 days play out, Sumlin and the Aggies may be adding that critical addition heading into the summer, not only sparking further recruiting momentum, but giving Texas A&M its second-highest ranked commit and 10th pledge, overall.

If that doesn’t prove to be the case and the Texas A&M misses on Moore to either Florida State or Nebraska, the Aggies 2018 class will not only miss out on a potential key addition, but it’s current nine-man haul may be losing a member.

Among those currently committed is Moore’s brother, four-star safety Jordan Moore, who recently hinted that he and Joshua will be teaming up at the next level.

If Joshua heads to Lincoln or Tallahassee, it’s likely that Jordan, too, heads out of state if his hint at playing with Joshua proves true. As of now, per the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Moore is widely projected to side with Nebraska or Florida State, which hold 41 and 37 percent of his projections, respectively. Texas A&M, on the other hand, holds just 1-of-25 total projections, so there’s certainly reason to believe the Aggies 2018 class can look considerably different 10 days from now if Moore heads elsewhere and his brother tags along.

If that becomes the case, Texas A&M will miss out on a critical wide receiver target with few quality options remaining, at least as it looks now.

Of the high-level wide receiver targets the Aggies are in pursuit of, only Jalen Preston appears to be a Texas A&M lean at this point. Brennan Eagles and Al’vonte Woodard look Austin-bound, which should also become the case with Jaylen Waddle if Justin Watkins decommits from Texas, and there’s reason to believe that’s a strong possibility.

Terrace Marshall and Lawrence Keys seem headed for LSU and Erik Ezukanma is projected to land at TCU, while Tommy Bush’s recruitment is still wide open.

The Aggies already have three-star prospect Montel Parker on board, and if things go as expected, Preston will ultimately join the class, too, but Moore would, along with Preston, would give Texas A&M two elite, instant impact pass-catchers this cycle.

If Texas A&M misses on Moore, they may not have another realistic shot at such a high-level receiver, aside from Preston.

In short, there’s a lot at stake for Texas A&M with Moore’s June 18 commitment date rapidly approaching. Sumlin and his staff have 10 just days and counting to assure they fall on the right side of the recruiting momentum when that day comes.
