Smith had a stellar senior season for the Panthers, finishing with 1,538 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2016. He played a big part for a Fossil Ridge rushing attack that averaged more than 240 yards rushing per game and made the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
Smith becomes the 24th commit in the Class of 2017 for the Bobcats. Smith chose Texas State over UTSA, Army, New Mexico, and Stephen F. Austin among others.
