Well, it looked like it would be a close game through the first quarter. Klein Oak drove down the field and took a 7-0 lead over district rival Klein Collins, but after that it was all Tigers.

The Klein Collins Tigers (#14 in the 6A TexasHSFootball.com Power Rankings) were just too much for the Panthers. At the end of the first quarter it was all tied 7-7, after giving up the opening score to the Panthers the Tigers dominated the rest of the game in every possible way. Senior quarterback Bryson Powers only attempted 11 passes, but completed six of them, one for a touchdown right before half to Quinton Newton. Powers’ passing touchdown came 20 seconds after he rushed one in after Oak fumbled the ensuing kickoff; all of a sudden the Tigers were up 28-7 at the half.

The Tigers got the ball at the half and proceed to use half the quarter to march down and finish the drive with a touchdown. After that the game was essentially over, the Tigers shutout the Panthers in the second half. Collins would get another meaningless touchdown late in the third to make the score its final 42-7. Being down by as much as Oak was, they only managed to amass 56 passing yards in the second half.

Klein Collins moves to 4-1 with the only loss coming at the hands of the Katy Tigers in double overtime by one point. The Tigers may crack the top 10 in the rankings this week if some teams in front of them lose; this team is deserving of being up there. Collins will take on 1-4 Klein Forest in their next game, Oak falls to .500 on the season and will take on Klein next week.
