No. 1 Lone Star and No. 8 Lancaster set to clash for regional championship

After dethroning three-time defending state champion Class 5A, Division I No. 4 Highland Park in a 33-27 thrilling win in overtime last weekend, No. 1 Frisco Lone Star must turn its attention toward another state-ranked opponent in No. 8 Lancaster.

Oklahoma commit Marvin Mims finished the game against Highland Park with two touchdown catches, while teammate Trace Bruckler finished with 14 catches for 183 yards.

In the pocket, sophomore quarterback Garret Rangel completed 35 of 49 passes totaling 419 yards. Rangel is on top for Class 5A Dallas-area passers and is a force to be reckoned with.

Lancaster is coming off of a 34-10 dominating win against Independence last week.

Running back Tre Bradford is a huge name to watch as he has 578 yards and five touchdowns in only three playoff games. LSU commit Lorando Johnson and Baylor commit Threon Stroops are forces to watch for on Lancaster’s side as well.

Lone Star and Lancaster will face-off at Rockwall’s Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
