GRANDVIEW, Texas — Friday night at Zebra Stadium, Grandview High School proved why it sits atop the District 6-3A standings.

The Zebras took on the Palmer Bulldogs at Zebra Stadium and came out with a huge 49-0 win. From start to finish, Grandview rolled over the Bulldogs in a win that officially leaves the Bulldogs out of playoff contention at 2-5.

On the Zebra’s first drive, quarterback Landon Moon set the tone by running it in for an easy Grandview score.

The Bulldogs offense stayed put, as it would have trouble finding a rhythm early and often. Palmer was forced to punt on its first drive. The Zebras didn’t take long to capitalize, as Grandview Moon’s pass to receiver Riley would put the Zebras ahead 14-0 with 4:55 remaining in the first quarter.

Palmer would get another try to start the offense, but it stayed put again, as Grandview forced it into a three-and-out situation.

The Zebras’ seemingly did not stop the entire night. Moon hit three different receivers for scores in the first half alone while running back Earnest Crownover took one in on the ground. Receivers Riley, Jake Goodman, and Kamron English all had receiving touchdowns in the first half.

Grandview took a 35-0 lead into halftime.

The third and fourth quarters proved to be a success for Grandview as well. Moon hit Tyler Hale in the end zone for the 10-yard touchdown grab with 8:09 left in the third quarter.

Before the quarter would end, however, Moon would finally hit a snag in his game as he threw one deep for the end zone, only to be picked off by Palmer’s Wesley Greenlee.

After the mistake, the defense would force another a punt from Palmer. Moon would then show that he could run the ball as well. The senior quarterback took it to the house on a 22-yard run that would be the last score of the game.

What Next?

The Grandview Zebras move to 7-0 on the season, and 4-0 in District 6-3A play. Although Palmer gave the effort the entire night, the Bulldogs would ride home with a 2-5 overall record, standing at 0-4 in district play.

Next Friday, October 27, Grandview faces Maypearl at W.G. Roesler Field in Maypearl. Kick-off is set for 7:30.
