A new season brings a new sense of optimism across the state of Texas and El Paso Irvin is no exception. Under second year head coach and Irvin alumnus Joe Urias, the Rockets are looking for improvement after finishing 2-8 in a trying 2016 season that was plagued by injuries.
The Rockets have one of the smaller teams in District 1-5A in terms of numbers, but they’ll have some exciting junior playmakers to lean on in receiver/cornerback Joel Tarango and running back/linebacker Erik Hooks.
Here’s a look at their first day of preseason practice in Northeast El Paso.
