It’s time for the readers to decide some more preseason awards: who’s the best defensive back in Texas?

Jeffrey Okudah – South Grand Prairie

The SGP prospect is entering his senior year, and it’s going to be a good one. He’s ranked as the #1 CB in the nation for the class of 2017 and the #2 player in Texas.

Chevin Calloway – Bishop Dunne

Man, Calloway can lay the wood. He’s a hard commit to the Iowa Hawkeyes, and he’ll fit right in with their smashmouth style of football.

Robert Barnes – Southlake Carroll

Barnes is another guy who will come up and sock you in the mouth. His 6’3 build makes it seem like he was born to play safety.

Saiid Adebo – Mansfield

The senior from Mansfield has some serious speed. He plays on both sides of the ball, but his skill when the ball is in the air is extraordinary.

Myles Jones – Magnolia West

This A&M commit is an interception magnet who can come up and stuff the screen pass too.

Terry Petry – Ridge Point

Petry is a guy you definitely don’t want to throw at more than you have to. He can play either wide receiver or corner at the next level.

Devin Morris – Caldwell

In what’s somewhat of a theme for the recruiting class of 2017, Morris has the ability to play both wide receiver and corner. The three-star recruit is heading to Texas A&M next year.

Tay’lor Perry – Crosby

Perry breaks on the ball hard, which is something you don’t often see from high school players. He’s not just a run support corner either, he’s capable of locking down good wide receivers as well.

Kieston Roach – North Shore

The very first play on Roach’s Hudl highlight tape shows exactly the kind of hustle that coaches all of the nation crave in their athletes. Roach is talented, but his best attribute might be his never-say-die attitude.

Kobe Boyce – Lake Dallas

If you’re looking for another guy who flies all over the field, Kobe Boyce is your man. He’s not too shabby at defending the deep ball either.

Josh Thompson – Nacogdoches

This Longhorn commit is excellent at making up lost ground and dislodging the football on contact.
