Recruiting Analysis: Manvel WR Kam Scott

As a first team all-district selection, Manvel’s Kam Scott is slowly creeping up on the radars of coaches and recruiters alike. Playing alongside Jalen Preston can have its pros as far as exploiting secondary’s when Preston draws double coverage, but also, the targets Scott receives will natural lack not being a number one option.

Despite that, Scott still makes his presence known, hauling in 27 catches for close to 500 yards. He also added three receiving touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns on 139 yards. Where Scott truly makes his name is on special teams as a kick returner racking up three return touchdowns to his name as well. With a 6-2 frame and still room to grow, Scott will prove to be a vital asset in the offensive and kick returning game wherever he lands.

On the list of suitors for the Mavericks’ prospect are the likes of Tennessee, SMU, and Baylor. There are not any predictions to date of where Scott may land, but from a personnel standpoint, of all seven offers he holds, the need for a dynamic receiver is apparent.

It is not out of the question for Scott to receive more offers, especially if he’s able to perform when scouts come to watch Preston. Now with Preston able to garner most of the attention, this fall could be Scott’s time to breakout and stake his claim to raise his already three-star status.
