Eight Big Country teams, including Abilene High, Cooper and Wylie, will be chasing state titles this weekend at the Texas 7-on-7 State Championships at College Station.
The 128-team event gets underway Thursday at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex with Division II pool games. Division I pool games and Division II bracket play are scheduled for Friday with Division I bracket games on Saturday.
Teams are guaranteed four games with the top two in each four-team pool advancing to championship brackets with the other two competing in consolation brackets. All brackets are single-elimination.
Wylie begins play Thursday in the Division II tournament. The Bulldogs are making their eighth straight trip to the state tournament, since making their first in 2009.
