James Hadnot, one of the greatest Texas Tech football players of all time, passed away over the weekend at 59 years of age.
Hadnot was with the Red Raiders from 1976-1979, but he only played fullback from ’78-’79. In just two seasons at the position, he posted 2,740 yards from the line of scrimmage, and lead the brutal SWC in rushing during both of his seasons at the position.
He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round, and went on to play three seasons in the NFL. Hadnot was inducted into the Texas Tech Hall of Fame in 2005, and was a major part of Texas Tech Athletics until his death.
Memorial services for James Hadnot will be held in his hometown of Jasper, Texas and at Reagor-Dyke Auto Group tomorrow.
