The Texas Longhorns will be without one of their key contributors at wide receiver in 2017. According to Max Olson of ESPN Jake Oliver that he would forgo his final year of eligibility to pursue other opportunities outside of football.

Oliver also released a statement, saying in part:

“After giving it a lot of thought with my family, I’ve decided to forego my remaining eligibility and begin my future career path. I feel so fortunate to have already earned my degree from one of the best universities in the nation, The University of Texas. It’s helped me already have a job in hand, and I’m ready to start that next chapter.”

Oliver was second on the team in catches (33) for 358 yards this past season. The Dallas Jesuit standout is the state’s all-time leader in receptions. However, he was  primarily a special teams player up until this past season when he took on a greater role on offense.

Oliver is set to graduate from Texas in May.
