Grant Gunnell – Houston St. Pius X – QB

The sophomore has been all over recruiting websites due to his frame, but he certainly has the game to back it up. He’s thrown for 29 touchdowns to only four interceptions, and he has St. Pius X sitting at 5-0. Last Friday he threw for 427 yards and eight touchdowns with only one pick. It takes most quarterbacks around 30 completions to get to that number, it only took Gunnell 16. Every other pass he threw was a touchdown. He only threw 20 times too, that’s good for an 80% completion rating. Not bad at all for the St. Pius X stud.

Trey Sterling – Sunnyvale – RB

Sunnyvale’s offense has been talked about a lot, but arguably no performance was more instrumental to their team’s success than Trey Sterling’s last Friday. The senior rushed for 310 yards on 40 carries and lead his team to a tough win over a then 4-0 Grandview squad. The four touchdowns he accounted for were instrumental in his team’s victory.

Kordell Rodgers – Lufkin – QB

The senior accounted for 420 yards and six touchdowns en route to leading his team to a 58-17 victory over The Woodlands College Park. Lufkin still hasn’t lost to a team from Texas; the only blemish on their record is to a team from Louisiana. Rodgers will have to be on the top of his game in the future as Lufkin looks to secure a district title. Lufkin faces an undefeated squad out of The Woodlands next week.
