As we head into the middle of high school football season and non-district play is over, let’s take a look at one of the most interesting districts in the Dallas area. 13-5A is the district that includes all of the Frisco schools, this is the first time a district has consisted of all schools in Frisco ISD. Each team has already played one district game, as it was the first game of the season for the opening of the Ford Center at The Star.

Frisco Lone Star (3-1, 1-0) – They have the target on there back as they are a state finalist from 2015 and they were the preseason favorite to win the district this season. Senior quarterback Jason Shelley has continued to build off his breakout junior year and is the driving force behind this Ranger team along with wide receiver Jaylen Dixon. Head coach Jeff Rayburn had a week off before the district slate starts against Frisco High on September 30th.

Frisco High (4-0,1-0) – The flexbone offense will be a thorn in the side for their opponents all season as teams will only have a week or so to prepare for the running offense. Last year, the Raccoons were the only team to beat Lone Star in the regular season last year. If the offense is able to execute to the liking of head coach Vance Gibson, his team can challenge for the district title and make a solid run in the playoffs.

Frisco Wakeland (3-1, 1-0) – Led behind senior running back Jay Orji who is averaging nine yards per carry and has nine touchdowns through four games makes the Wolverine offense work. Their only loss was to Lovejoy, the district title might be a long shot for Wakeland, but they should find themselves in the playoffs.

Frisco Independence (4-0, 1-0) – The Knights start to the season is one of the biggest surprises. The third year program is off to an undefeated start under head coach Kyle Story. They have a point differential of +160, and the offense has put up 54+ points in three of their four games. If the first four games are any indication of how the season will go, the Knights will be in a fight for a playoff spot.

Frisco Centennial (1-3, 0-1) – Disappointing start to the season for the Titans as they didn’t get off to the start they expected. In three of their four games, their offense has scored 7,13 and 16 points. For the Titans to compete for a playoff spot, they’ll need the offense to look like it did against McKinney North when it scored 38 points in their lone win of the season.

Frisco Reedy (2-2, 0-1) – After their first ever varsity game, which ended in a 54-3 loss to Independence, the Lions came back with two wins in a row. With no seniors on the roster, head coach Chad Cole’s team will get some valuable experience for the years to come and will play spoiler for the other teams in the district.

Frisco Liberty (1-3, 0-1) – The Redhawks defense seems to be the problem spot early in the season. They have allowed on average 411 yards per game and 31 points per game while only scoring 18 per game.

Frisco Heritage (0-4, 0-1) – the Coyotes are going to take their lumps in district play this season. Allowing 62 points per game and 670 yards per game isn’t going to cut it even if the offense is averaging 32 points and 412 yards per game. It’s going to be a tough road for Heritage this season.
