Lake Travis Cavaliers
Head Coach: Hank Carter (12th season as head coach)
Class: 6A
District: 26-6A
2020 Season Recap (6-1)
2020 was a shorter season than Lake Travis is used to in more ways than one. The Cavaliers only played six regular season games, which they won by an average margin of 42 points, as their final two contests against Akins and Westlake were cancelled due to COVID-19 and contract tracing. After they returned to the field, their postseason stay didn’t last long either as Round Rock stunned the Cavaliers 35-21 in the playoff opener, the first time Lake Travis had failed to make it out of the first round since 2012.

2021 Player Spotlight
Junior Quarterback Bo Edmundson 6’2” 195 lbs.
After starter Nate Yarnell suffered an injury in the preseason, Edmundson was cast into the starting role as a sophomore. He delivered. Edmundson threw for 1,409 yards and 17 touchdowns in just five games in 2020. College coaches took notice too as Edmundson now has nine Division I offers. With a season of his experience under his belt, expect big things from the junior quarterback leading the Cavalier offense that has a storied tradition of producing college quarterbacks.
2021 Lake Travis Cavaliers Season Preview
Despite losing its top two receivers from last year, the Lake Travis receiving core might well be stronger this year after Ohio State commit Caleb Burton transferred in from Del Valle when his dad was hired on to the Lake Travis coaching staff. Fellow senior Isaac Norris (221 receiving yards and 209 rushing yards) is a versatile athlete and can also play quarterback, so expect to see him deployed in a variety of ways by the Lake Travis coaching staff. Defensively, Watson Cusick (48 tackles) and Derrick Johnson (44 tackles) were the two leading tacklers for the Cavaliers last season and will be a duo to watch at linebacker in 2021. Up front, Max Linhoff (35 tackles and 4.5 sacks) and Trey Dorsett will bring pressure off the edge after both were named second team all-district a year ago.
Games to Watch
Lake Travis will certainly be tested in its non-district contests as it squares off against DFW powers Arlington Martin (Aug 27) and Rockwell (Sept. 10) in addition to hosting San Antonio power Converse Judson (Sept. 3) in week two. The all-important showdown against Westlake (Nov. 5) will take place in the district finale and likely could decide the district title.
