With Texas having outstanding high school quarterbacks for the upcoming season, like Cade Klubnik of Austin Westlake, Quinn Ewers of Southlake Carroll, and Nick Evers of Flower Mound to name a few, here are five Texas high school running backs to know in 2021.
Jaydon Blue, 5-11, 205, Cain H.S., Klein, TX
In an unprecedented move, Blue will skip his senior season…of high school. A 4-star recruit, He is committed to the Texas Longhorns.
Blue rushed for 2155 yards and 30 touchdowns in 2020 and was named the district 15-6A Offensive Player of the Year.
He had five games with three rushing touchdowns, and one game with five touchdowns vs. Tomball.
Jamarion Miller, 5-10, 195, Tylet Legacy H.S., Tyler, TX:
Also, a 4-star recruit and committed to the Texas Longhorns, Miller rushed for 1631 yards and 20 touchdowns.
He also caught 28 balls for 464 yards and 8 touchdowns.
His high game was 347 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a 70-32 win over Lufkin.
Tavorus Jones, 5-10, 195, Burges H.S., El Paso, TX:
Jones only played in six games due to COVID. He rushed for 466 yards and 8 touchdowns, and had 195 receiving yards and 3 scores. He is committed to play his college ball at Missouri.
He rushed for over 100 yards in 3 of the 6 games played.
Jadarian Price, 5-11, 180, Denison (TX.) H.S.:
Price, a 4-star recruit, has committed to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, after rushing for 1145 yards and 18 touchdowns.
He turned in five 100+ yard rushing games, and three games with three rushing touchdowns.
Ollie Gordon, 6-1, 210, Trinity H.S., Euless, TX:
He was named Co-Offensive MVP for district 3-6A. Gordon was also named Male Athlete of the Year by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Gordon rushed for 2083 yards and 28 touchdowns, plus two receiving touchdowns.
He rushed for 455 yards and six touchdowns in a 49-45 playoff win over the Allen Eagles
A 4-star recruit, he has committed to Oklahoma State.
