Reasoning: This was one of the toughest games that we’ve had to pick in the entire postseason. It’s about as evenly matched as you would expect. Allen has been tested, but they’ve passed everything thrown at them as have The Woodlands.
Allen’s offense can explode at any time, but it’s the defense that will be tested against a strong Highlander offense. On the flip side, the Highlanders defense hasn’t been quite as strong in the postseason as it has been during the regular season. No matter what side you root for, expect a classic showdown in Austin this weekend.
Region III vs. Region IV
Atascocita– 1
Lake Travis– 3
Advantage: Lake Travis
Reasoning: Lake Travis enters this game rolling after another dominant win over their rival Austin Westlake in the regional final. Their next challenge is against an Atascocita Eagle squad that is feeling great after a dramatic overtime victory against the defending state champions in Galena Park North Shore.
Daveon Boyd is a tremendous talent at quarterback for the Eagles and he can absolutely keep his team in it for this one. However, Lake Travis has essentially steamrolled everyone they have played since the first two weeks of the year. In another thriller, we like the Cavaliers to come out on top and play for another state title.
