Midway Dominates Temple 27-7 Behind Whisenton’s Big Night

Austin Roof Inspection

Midway showed once again why they’re among Central Texas’ most complete teams, rolling past Temple 27-7 on Friday night at Panther Stadium. The Panthers scored in every quarter, leaned on a dominant defense, and never allowed the Wildcats to gain momentum after the first quarter.

Junior standout Lathan Whisenton continued his incredible season, rushing for 175 yards and two touchdowns while averaging eight yards per carry. The powerful back also added 37 receiving yards, marking his sixth straight game with multiple rushing scores. Jeyden Fields-Vaughn chipped in 82 yards and a touchdown as Midway controlled the tempo throughout.

Defensively, the Panthers were relentless, holding Temple to just 31 passing yards and forcing two turnovers, including an interception on the Wildcats’ opening play. The unit allowed only 205 total yards and pitched a shutout across the final three quarters.

For Temple, Cavalli Nealy provided the lone highlight, breaking free for a 59-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. But from that point on, Midway’s physicality took over.

With the win, Midway moves to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in district, their third straight victory over Temple.
