San Antonio ISD has its guy at Sam Houston.
Rashard Colquitt has been named the new head football coach and athletic director at Sam Houston High, giving the Hurricanes a fresh face to lead a program that showed plenty of fight in 2025.
Colquitt arrives from Aldine Nimitz, where he spent the last four seasons as offensive coordinator. The Cougars went 8-3 last season and averaged nearly 37 points per game, so there is no question he comes in with a strong offensive background.
Sam Houston finished 6-5 last year, but that record only tells part of the story. The Hurricanes opened 0-4, then turned things around in a big way with six straight wins before their season ended in the first round of the Class 5A Division II playoffs.
“I’m excited to be a part of the San Antonio ISD family,” Colquitt said in a press release.
This will be Colquitt’s first head coaching job. He has also coached at Coldspring, Nacogdoches and Port Arthur ISD.
