Klein Coach Nick Codutti Under Investigation

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit is investigating a reported inappropriate relationship involving Klein head football coach Nick Codutti and a former Tomball High School student. No charges have been filed at this time, and authorities said the investigation remains in its early stages.

According to KPRC 2, HCSO said the alleged relationship was reported earlier this month by a female student who attended Tomball High School from 2016 to 2020. Investigators said the report was referred to law enforcement through Child Protective Services.

Codutti worked at Tomball High School from 2017 through 2021. Tomball ISD notified families and staff Monday that it had recently learned through law enforcement of allegations involving misconduct from Codutti’s time with the district. The district said no complaints, concerns or reports involving Codutti were brought forward while he was employed by Tomball ISD.

Klein ISD previously informed Klein High School families that Codutti had been directed to step away from campus after the district was contacted by an external agency about an investigation tied to a matter before his time with Klein. The district said Codutti would not return until the matter is resolved.

Klein officials also told families that none of the allegations appear to involve Klein High School students or staff. The district said coaches and staff are continuing to support students as the school year closes.

Codutti was hired by Klein in January 2025 after four seasons as the head coach at Fulshear. Lamar CISD also addressed the situation last week, saying it had no information indicating the allegations referenced by Klein ISD were connected to Codutti’s time at Fulshear.

At Fulshear, Codutti went 39-10, reached the playoffs in all four seasons and won three district titles. In his first season at Klein, the Bearkats started 4-0 before finishing 6-5 and falling in the first round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs.

Codutti previously worked as an assistant at Tomball, and his coaching background also includes stops as an offensive coordinator at Beaumont West Brook and as a head coach in Missouri. He was named to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s 40 Under 40 list in 2021.

For now, the case remains an active law enforcement investigation, and officials have not announced any charges. HCSO encouraged anyone who may have been a victim of sexual abuse to come forward and file a report.
