North Forney Key Players and Storylines

North Forney ran its way to its first ten-win season since 2017 a year ago. Literally. The Falcons had three players who finished the season with 1,100 rushing yards or better.

This season, only speedy running back Cordai Woodward (1,178 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns) returns from that trio. His presence should make life easier for quarterback Kam Johnson, who is also a basketball standout for the Falcons, as he steps into the starting role vacated by Legend Bey, who is now at Ohio State. Johnson will also have a clear go-to target to trust in the passing attack in 6’4″ Texas commit Briceson Thrower Jr. (529 receiving yards and five touchdowns).

Up front, the Falcons have great size. Among the standouts are 6’4″, 290-pound junior Randall Wren and 6’6″, 300-pound sophomore tackle Laking Foreman, who are both already getting Division I looks.

Defensively, North Forney should be able to enforce its will in the trenches too with the one-two punch of defensive ends Dazmean Bryant (67 tackles, eight TFLs) and New Mexico commit Ar’Modd Alexander (52 tackles, five TFLs). Kobe Jackson (56 tackles) headlines the linebacking corps after earning first team all-district honors a year ago, while the Falcons are well-positioned at cornerback too with the duo of Incarnate Word commit Aayden Minger (40 tackles and three INTs) and New Mexico commit Bryson Fleming (45 tackles).

The Falcons have to replace one of the best athletes in the nation with the graduation of Bey. However, there’s still no shortage of talent on this roster. After losing the district title by a single point last year, expect the Falcons to gun for the top spot this fall.
