Head Coach: Kelvin Chatham (4th season; 18-14 record)

Last Season: 7-4; 6-1 in district (Lost to The Woodlands in bi-district)

Aldine Davis Key Players and Storylines

Kelvin Chatham is leading Aldine Davis through arguably its best stretch in its 12-year history. The Falcons have had back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since their first two years as a program. They have also earned back-to-back playoff berths for the first time since 2017-18.

Offensively, Aldine Davis loses both of its quarterbacks that saw playing time last year, one to graduation and another transferred. Whoever takes over, though, will be licking their chops. Senior receivers Cortland Lee-Pugh (240 receiving yards and six touchdowns) and David Richardson (364 receiving yards and four touchdowns) are both Division I prospects. Richardson can also line up at running back while Lee-Pugh brings good size at 6’1″, 175 pounds. Sophomore Skyler Robinson is another player on the rise, and he has Power Four potential.

Up front, the Falcons will turn to senior offensive lineman Jonathan Giles, who earned second team all-district honors a year ago.

Defensively, there’s good experience back in the secondary. Safety Keithas Johnson (52 tackles, four TFLs) is a playmaker who led the Falcons in tackles last season while instinctual cornerback Pat Lyles (21 tackles) will have to go against some of the top talent in 14-6A. Up front, defensive end Uriah Jackson (25 tackles, three sacks) is an explosive option off the edge.

Davis does have to find a new quarterback, but there is plenty of skill talent on this roster. They finished in a three-way tie for the top spot in 14-6A a year ago. With the momentum building under Chatham, they’ll have their sights set on their first outright district title in school history.
