Humble Key Players and Storylines
Humble has been stuck with a 2-5 district record each of the past three seasons, although the Wildcats have been competing in one of the toughest 6A districts in the state.
It’s not getting any easier this year, although head coach Robert Murphy believes the program has built up the depth required to compete against the cream of the crop.
He said the skill positions specifically can “cause matchup nightmares” this fall. 6’1”, 205-pound tight end Ja’Quarius Moore is both a great blocker and has the ability to flex out and be a threat in the passing attack. 6’2” receiver Joseph Ford is a home run threat, who was a track standout for the Wildcats this past fall. Quarterback Vincent Joseph will be orchestrating the passing attack after coming on strong in 2025. He’s got the athleticism to play just about any position on both sides of the ball.

Defensively, the Wildcats have more playmakers in the secondary with physical cornerback Brandon Evans and safety Riley Cummings, who has the speed to cover wide stretches of the field on the back end. In front of them, middle linebacker Kyran Washington is a tackling machine, who earned an all-district honorable mention in 2025.
Murphy has loved the work ethic he has seen from his guys. The freshmen when he first was promoted to head coach are now seniors. He’s hopeful all of their efforts will pay off this season with Humble’s first playoff berth since 2019.
