Deer Park Key Players and Storylines
Deer Park has one goal in mind for 2026. The Deer want to finish atop their district for the first time in five years.
There’s reason to believe with the offensive skill talent they have in their arsenal. Senior receiver Aandon Schroeder (556 receiving yards and five touchdowns) is a three-year starter while junior receiver John Arthur-French Jr. (483 receiving yards and five touchdowns) is a track star who is the speedster in the receiving room. The backfield is just as good. Junior quarterback Haden LaFrenz (1,523 passing yards, 557 rushing yards) is a dual threat who already has a year of starting experience, and running back Trace Yates (670 rushing yards and six touchdowns) is back as well.

Defensively, the Deer will lean on the experience of Derek Woytek, who is a three-year starter at middle linebacker. Up front, defensive end Michael Benavides (56 tackles, nine sacks) is a proven pass=rushing threat after earning first team all-district honors in 2025.
If there’s a weakness, it’s on the offensive line where the Deer graduated four all-district players from last year’s team. Still, head coach Austin Flynn thinks this year’s group has the potential to be even stronger. He’ll need his leaders on both sides of the ball to rise to the occasion if they want to dethrone Dickinson and bring home that 18-6A title.
