Lamar Key Players and Storylines

Lamar is gearing up for what could be a big 2026 season. Sure, the Texans may only have nine total starters back from last year, but that group includes leaders on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Jayden Robins (1,122 passing yards and 16 touchdowns) is “a game changer” who has “all the tools” in the eyes of head coach Mike Lindsey. He’s the defending district Offensive MVP. Alongside him are “physical running back” Kaze Bryant (515 rushing yards, 10.3 YPC) and “speedy” wide receiver Ja’Carsten Landor (507 receiving yards and nine touchdowns).

The main question is up front where the Texans will be pretty inexperienced on the offensive line.

Defensively, linebacker Jaxon Richmond (85 tackles, five TFLs) and defensive back Prince Washington are both three-year starters. Washington is a Division I prospect, while Lindsey believes Richmond is about to explode this season. Defensive end Xavious Goodall brings great speed off the edge and led the Texans with 8.5 sacks last year.

With strong senior leadership, Lindsey isn’t holding back. He’s challenged his guys to push for an undefeated regular season and a long playoff run this fall.
