Westside Key Players and Storylines
It’s a new challenge for Westside and its fellow Houston ISD schools in 2026. They go from having their own district to joining the Alief ISD and Spring Branch ISD schools in District 20-6A.
Westside returns four starters on each side of the ball. Offensively, there’s a good foundation to build on. Senior quarterback Gavin Meador (190 passing yards and three touchdowns) returns to direct Westside’s run-heavy, option-based offense.
The Wolves do have to replace a 1,000-yard rusher, but Allen is excited about the potential of explosive sophomore running back Cordie Kimble. Wide receiver Worldens Sain Jean is an excellent run blocker on the perimeter, while Allen believes the offensive line will be one of the Wolves’ biggest strengths.
Defensively, the Wolves have some might up front. Defensive tackle Rodrick Chambers can stop the run at 6’1″ and 320 pounds, while outside linebacker Roger Dingamnarbe is a playmaker off the edge. On the back end, Christian Ellis will provide much needed leadership on what will be a younger defense.

Allen noted Westside is truly a melting pot, and he takes pride in the toughness they exhibit every day. District 20-6A will be a big challenge, but the Wolves will be ready to compete with the goal of knocking off at least one non-Houston ISD team.
