At the 2026 THSCA Coaching School and Convention, Texas HS Football Editor in Chief KP Kelly sat down with Hutto ISD Director of Athletics Will Compton in partnership with Hudl. Compton discussed entering his second year as athletic director after spending three seasons as Hutto’s head football coach. Hutto currently lists Compton as athletic director and Casey Walraven as the Hippos’ head football coach.
Compton said the offseason has focused on Walraven and his staff building relationships while installing new offensive and defensive systems. He highlighted Oklahoma commit Jaiden Fields as one of Hutto’s top returning players and said he is eager to see Walraven’s high-scoring offensive approach paired with improved defensive consistency. 
Hudl has been part of Compton’s work since about 2010. He explained that Hutto uses the platform for film breakdown, analytics, player highlights and tracking film-study activity. From an administrative perspective, he especially values livestreaming, which helps relatives and community members watch middle school and other games they cannot attend.
Looking ahead, Compton expects demanding competition across Hutto athletics. He is also preparing for continued district growth and the opening of Creekside High School, Hutto ISD’s second comprehensive high school, in fall 2027.
