Dripping Springs Key Players and Storylines

Dripping Springs has established itself as a Central Texas power. The Tigers have made the regional final in three out of the past four years, and they now have a golden opportunity to chase a district title after powerhouses Lake Travis and Westlake were realigned to 25-6A.

The Tigers did graduate a talented senior class, so 2026 will be all about talented young players developing quickly.

Offensively, they have a great foundation to build on with returning first team all-district offensive linemen 6’4″, 270-pound Baylor commit Hudson Whitenight and 6’2″, 285-pound senior Holden Yeldell. They should give standout quarterback Chase Ames (3,682 passing yards and 47 touchdowns) plenty of room to operate the offense at a high level again.

One newcomer to watch is running back Frank Acetta (135 rushing yards and two touchdowns), who showed off his playmaking ability as a kick returner last season.

The defense will be anchored in the trenches too with experienced defensive tackle Major Bettridge. Behind him, Anthony Delgado (23 tackles, one INT) has the speed to make plays off the edge, while safety Ben Donahoe will bring much needed energy and stability to what will be a young secondary.

Dripping Springs has won at least eight games the past ten seasons. Even with the roster turnover, expectations will remain high this fall as the Tigers look to gel together and peak at the right time.
