Lake Travis senior football player Odin Hensley suffered cardiac arrest during football practice Monday morning and remains in intensive care at Dell Children’s Medical Center.

The medical emergency occurred around 8 a.m. at Lake Travis High School. Austin-Travis County EMS said medics initiated advanced life support before Travis County STAR Flight transported the teenager to Dell Children’s in critical condition.

A GoFundMe organized to support Hensley and his family later identified him and said he suffered cardiac arrest. According to the fundraiser, doctors are concerned about his brain and other organs as his family waits for answers. His parents have remained at the hospital while missing work to be with their son.

Since the emergency, the Texas high school football community has begun rallying around Hensley. Multiple school football programs have posted messages of prayer and support on social media, while head coaches and others throughout the state have shared Hensley’s story and encouraged people to support the family.

Lake Travis head coach Hank Carter thanked the athletic training staff, coaches, LTISD Police and first responders who assisted Hensley. Carter said the program’s “thoughts and prayers” remain with the player and his family.

The GoFundMe for Odin and his family is intended to help with medical and rehabilitation expenses, along with lost income while his parents remain by his side.
