Clemens Key Players and Storylines
Clemens was left wondering what could’ve been in 2025. The Buffaloes lost two of their district games by just seven total points. Winning just one of those games would have sent them to the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
This year, they’re ready to make another run at snapping that now six-year drought. Their offense averaged 25.5 points per game a year ago and is poised to take another step forward this year.
Dual threat quarterback Carter Mencke (803 passing yards and eight touchdowns) can keep defenses on their toes and is coming off a promising sophomore season. Offensive lineman Caleb Santos will be the leader in the trenches after earning first team all-district honors last year.

Defensively, the Buffaloes will need to re-build their defensive line. They’ll lean on linebackers Jacob Spiteri and Eric Williams at the second level. Behind them, safety Dae’vion Davis is a reliable center fielder with his “great ball skills.”
The Buffaloes made a two-win improvement a year ago in head coach Alan Hill’s second year. Now, they’re ready to make another jump this season as they finally look to make it back to the promised land of the playoffs.
