Gordon Key Players and Storylines

With two Division I players leading the way, Gordon’s Class of 2026 has a strong argument for being the greatest six-man team of all-time. They graduate with three consecutive state titles and a 56-1 record.

Not a single starter returns from last year’s team that rolled past Rankin 69-22 in the 1A Division I State Title Game, but the Longhorns will still boast one of the best players in the state.

Senior running back Keegan Hayes joins the Longhorns after his father, Nathan, accepted the Gordon head basketball job. At Benjamin, he rushed for 55 touchdowns and threw for another 25 in 2025. He’ll be joined by quarterback Hudson Campbell and sophomore running back Jasper Clark, who made the most of his limited opportunities a year ago.

Keegan Hayes (0), right, has been a standout player for Benjamin each of the past three seasons.

Hayes is also a standout linebacker, where he earned District MVP honors in Benjamin’s 2023 state championship victory.

Also up front, linebacker Tristan Ross was an all-region spread rusher last year, while nose guard Corvin Seymour made plays when his number was called upon last year off the bench. Defensive end Jaedon Dixon is also ready to contribute after a standout JV season last year. On the back end, Campbell is also a steady player for the Longhorns at cornerback.

For the players who have been waiting for their turn in the spotlight, they have had the benefit of the five additional weeks of practice during Gordon’s state championship runs. The Longhorns won’t be as star-studded as they were last year, but with the addition of arguably the state’s best player in Hayes, they’ll have a shot at their fourth-straight state title.
