Boerne Rolls Past Westwood 34-14 in Season-Opener

Boerne opened the 2026 season with a convincing 34-14 road victory over Round Rock Westwood on August 28 at Kelly Reeves Stadium.

Grant Sweeney got the Greyhounds on the board with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Hicks. Westwood responded with a 39-yard scoring strike to Weston Franz, but the tie did not last long.

Boerne quickly regained control. Kole Traylor flipped the momentum with a 94-yard punt return touchdown, while Sweeney later added a rushing score. Hicks found the end zone again through the air, and Callan Combs added another touchdown on the ground as the Greyhounds pulled away.

Westwood got a fourth-quarter touchdown from Kameron Hill, but Boerne’s defense answered with a goal-line stand, stopping the Warriors on fourth down from the 4-yard line.
