Waxahachie Pulls Away From Guyer in 44-30 Win

Waxahachie stayed perfect Thursday night with a 44-30 win over Denton Guyer in a matchup between two of the state’s top teams.

The Indians entered 2-0 after beating Coppell 27-24, while Guyer was also unbeaten after a 27-9 win over Melissa. Guyer led 14-7 early, but Waxahachie kept answering.

Taylen Strange led the way with 192 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Jordan Smith added a 97-yard kickoff return for a score, and Jayvon Moore sealed it late by returning a fumble for a defensive touchdown.

Waxahachie moves to 3-0 and hosts Lake Ridge next. Guyer falls to 2-1, has a bye week, then hosts Frisco Wakeland on September 24.
