Slayden Young Wins Week 7 Player of the Week

Stamford’s Slayden Young is the Texas HS Football Week 7 Fan Vote Player of the Week.

Young helped the Bulldogs continue their strong district run with 197 total yards and two touchdowns in Stamford’s 55-27 victory over Albany. The win improved Stamford to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in district play.

The voting was about as close as it gets.

Corbin Smejkal of Atascocita finished second in the closest Player of the Week fan vote we have ever had. Smejkal was coming off a record-setting performance of his own, throwing for 394 yards and eight touchdowns in Atascocita’s 70-0 victory over Channelview.

Both players received tremendous support from their schools and communities throughout the voting.

Young, a Class of 2028 athlete, contributes on both sides of the ball for Stamford at wide receiver and safety. He has also been one of the key pieces for a Bulldogs team that has won five of its last six games.

Congratulations to Slayden Young and the Stamford Bulldogs, and a special honorable mention to Corbin Smejkal and Atascocita after an incredible race.
