Bowie Bulldogs Stay Undefeated

BUDA, TX – The Lehman Lobos looked to get their first win of the season against the undefeated Bowie Bulldogs.

bowie introLehman won the toss and elected to receive. On the second play from scrimmage, junior quarter back Jacob Zamora rolled left and found sophomore wide out Jeremiah brown for a 25-yard gain. After few missed throws and a fumble, Lehman was forced to punt, Bowie would take action from the 50 yard line. Junior quarter back, Brandon Ramos started the drive really efficient, hitting his targets on quick patterns. Bowie continued their methodical drive all the way down to the one yard line where junior running back Jalynn Threadgill punched it in to give Bowie an early lead. Marini’s kick maked it 7-0 Bowie with under 5 minutes to play in the 1st quarter.

On the following possession, Zamora over threw his receiver and got picked off by senior free safety Matthew Dickey. The tables turned fairly quickly when Ramos was stripped by senior linebacker, Eddie Villarreal. He wasn’t done there; with an army of Lobo players escorting, Villarreal took it 55 yards for the touchdown. Velasquez’s kick tied the game 7-7.

Early in the second quarter, sophomore quarterback, Matthew Wheeler rumblesd in for the score, Bulldogs took back the lead, 14-7. Lobos offensive struggles continue, Brown was hit on a sweep and coughed up the ball, Bowie would recover. On the ensuing drive, Ramos noticed a break down in coverage and threw a 50-yard beauty to senior receiver Cash Cavitt who takes it in for the score. Bowie took a 21-7 lead, early in the quarter.

Lehman just couldn’t get right on offense. Zamora’s throw was picked off again by Dickey at the 40, for the senior’s second interception of the game. On Bowie’s next possession, Ramos proceeded to pick apart the Lobo secondary as he connected with senior receiver Raegan Shaw in the back of the end zone. Marini’s kick made the Bulldog’s lead 28-7 with just under 10 minutes left in the 2nd.

bowie 12Bowie started to pour it on, with 8 minutes left in the second, Ramos hit a wide open fade to his favorite target senior receiver Josh Wainwright for a 40-yard touchdown. Bowie was now in command 35-7. Bowie continued to show no mercy. With 4 minutes left in the half, Desmond Young trotted in for a 19-yard touchdown. Bowie, was in cruise control as they led 42-7 to end the first half.

“We wanted to keep simple, real simple on offense and come right at them,” Bowie Head Coach Jeff Ables said.

Bowie picked up where they left off in the 1st half. With the first play from scrimmage Threadgill took the dive 80-yards untouched for a touchdown. Bowie led 49-7 with 11 minutes left in the 3rd. Bowie would have to settle for a field goal for the first time all night on their next possession. Marini kicked one from 22-yards out to put the Bulldogs ahead 52-7 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. With under a minute to play, young continued to gash the Lobo defense as he busted through for a 30-yard gain. The Lobo defense surprisingly held strong to finish the quarter, Bowie led 52-7.

Not much changed in the 4th quarter. Both teams were just trying to get their reserves some game experience. Bowie went on to win this one, 52-7.
