Bowie shows more bite than bark, pounds Lehman

Kyle, Texas – The Lehman Lobos look to get their first win of the season against the undefeated Bowie Bulldogs.

Lehman wins the toss and elects to receive. On the second play from scrimmage, junior quarter back Jacob Zamora rolls left and finds sophomore wide out, Jeremiah brown for a 25 yard gain. After few missed throws and a fumble, Lehman is forced to punt. Bowie would take action from the 50 yard line.

Junior quarter back, Brandon Ramos starts the drive efficient, hitting his targets on quick patterns. Bowie would continue their methodical drive all the way down to the one yard line where junior running back, Jalynn Threadgill punched it in to give Bowie an early lead. Marini’s kick makes it 7-0 Bowie with under 5 minutes to play in the 1st quarter.

On the following possession, Zamora over throws his receiver and gets picked off by senior free safety, Matthew Dickey. The tables would turn fairly quickly. Ramos gets stripped by senior linebacker, Eddie Villarreal. He wasn’t done there; with an army of Lobo players escorting, Villarreal takes it 55 yards for the touchdown. Velasquez’s kick ties the game 7-7.

Early in the second quarter, sophomore quarterback, Matthew Wheeler takes the snap and rumbles in for the score. Bulldogs take the lead back, 14-7. Lobos continue their struggles on offense. Brown gets hit on the sweep and coughs up the ball. Bowie would recover. On the ensuing drive, Ramos notices a break down in coverage then throws a 50 yard beauty to senior receiver, Cash Cavitt who takes it in for the score. Bowie takes a 21-7 lead, still early in the quarter.

Lehman just can’t get right on offense. Zamora’s throw gets picked off again by Dickey at the 40, the senior’s second interception of the game. On Bowie’s next possession, Ramos proceeds to pick apart the Lobo secondary as he connects with senior receiver, Raegan Shaw in the back of the end zone. Marini’s kick expands the bulldog’s lead 28-7 with just under 10 minutes left in the 2nd.

Bowie starts to pour it on. With 8 minutes left in the second, Ramos throws a wide open fade to his favorite target, senior receiver Josh Wainwright for the 40 yard touchdown. Bowie now holds a commanding 35-7. Bowie continues to show no mercy. With 4 minutes left in the half, Desmond Young trots for a 19 yard touchdown. Bowie, now in cruise control as they lead 42-7 to end the first half.

Bowie picks up where they left off in the 1st half. With the first play from scrimmage, Threadgill takes the dive 80 yards untouched for the touchdown. Bowie leads 49-7 with 11 minutes left in the 3rd. Bowie would have to settle for a field goal for the first time all night on their next possession. Marini kicks one from 22 yards out to put the Bulldogs ahead 52-7 with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. With under a minute to play, young continues to gash the Lobo defense as he bust a 30 yard gain. The Lobo defense would surprisingly hold strong to finish the quarter. Bowie still leads 52-7.

Not much changed in the 4th quarter. Both teams just trying to get their reserves some game experience. Bowie would go on to win this one, 52-7.
“We wanted to keep simple real simple on offense and come right at them,” Coach Able said.
