It did not get any better for Memorial when Cinco Ranch Ben Mathiasmeier scooped up a fumble and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown making the score 31-0. Mathiasmeier led Cinco Ranch’s unrelenting defense with two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Memorial had a difficult time stopping the Cougar offense as they finished with 353 total yards. The Cougars’ play caller Klingler ended the night 10-14 with 157 yards and two touchdowns. Kuithe led the Cougars on the ground with five carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. Kuithe added 74 yards receiving on five receptions and a touchdown in the air.
Cinco Ranch opens their district competition next Friday night against defending state champions Katy. Memorial takes on Klein Collins in two weeks.
Even though both of these teams used to kick my butt while I was in high school, I’m going to go ahead and say… GO CINCO!
