The Baylor Bears will be missing one of their key players next week when they take on Boise State. According to John Werner of The Waco Tribune Herald, running back Shock Linwood has decided to sit out the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft.
Linwood is the school’s career leader in rushing yards and in touchdowns but had been suspended earlier in the season by interim coach Jim Grobe for reportedly pushing an assistant coach during the TCU game.
With this decision, Linwood becomes the third running back within the last week to announce that he would be skipping his team’s bowl game after LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey had each announced they would not be playing in their team’s bowl game.
Earlier on Tuesday, Jim Grobe told David Smoak that he was “fine with that decision” and that it was the best decision for him.
Linwood ends his senior season at Baylor with 751 yards in 2016 and 4,213 yards for his career. Baylor faces Boise State on December 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
