Garrett Dutschmann – RB/DB – Junior

It’s impossible to be any more impressed with Dutschmann and the Crawford Pirates. They came out swinging against a very physical Refugio team and didn’t stop swinging until the final bell sounded.

Leading that physical charge was Duschmann and his physical brand of running. He only gained 56 yards on the ground against that fearsome Refugio front, but his athletic catch on a screen pass netted the Pirates a crucial score late in the game. Crawford fought until the end, and Dutschmann is a guy that came out impressing everyone in attendance.

Dylan Jantz – WR/DB – Sophomore

Jantz is part of an extremely talented Gunter squad that’s chock full of young talent at the skill positions. Jantz is no different, the junior-to-be notched a fumble return, an interception, and a rushing touchdown on one of his six attempts.

Gunter absolutely throttled a very good Boling rushing attack, holding the team to 117 yards total and star quarterback Vernon Jackson to a mere 45. Jantz, even though he only picked up one tackle, was a huge part of every single element of the Gunter win, and is arguably the most talented part of that group of young athletes. Gunter isn’t going anywhere, and we haven’t heard the last of Jantz.

Brenden Brady – RB – Junior

Cibolo Steele’s incredible running game was powered by Brady, who endured through the physicality of DeSoto’s defense to rack up 80 yards on the ground and 84 receiving.

Not many were giving Cibolo Steele a chance in this one, especially after the Knights went down 28-10 at halftime. Steele didn’t give up, and battled back into the game to give the nationally ranked Eagles a scare. While his stats weren’t eye-popping, every single person in AT&T was put on alert for 2017, as Brady showed that if the Knights can get a couple blocks up front, their running game isn’t going anywhere.
