If 2016 was the year for breakout seasons, Cibolo Steele running back Brendan Brady definitely got the message – and now the whole nation knows it.
After accumulating almost 1,700 yards, 23 total touchdowns and a berth in the 6A State Championship game, the bar has been set for Brady to become a premiere back in the 2018. The bar has been set, but the Knights’ star will do so with five offers on the table and an influx of offers sure to come. Of the programs vying for his services: Army, Bowling Green, UTSA, Marshall and Yale, but rumor has it that TCU and Oklahoma State could be offering soon after Brady recently took visits to both schools.
It’s no surprise that the likes of Mike Gundy and Gary Anderson are so highly intrigued by the rising senior, as it is apparent he has all the ingredients to be a top back in the college ranks, and even perhaps beyond. Coming from an athletic background, Brady possess the athleticism of the highest caliber, often seen in runs that at times defy physics. This was apparent when he was one of the standout performers throughout the state playoffs for a very talented Cibolo Steele squad. It is also said that Brady has a coachability factor that is often unseen. With the potential to grow even more from his 5-11 frame, this gives college coaches the chance to develop him as his body grows, a rare opportunity. This combination of circumstances will be tough to find in most prospects, especially ones with the football IQ that Brady possesses from the backfield.
The state of Texas is expecting Cibolo Steele to be a powerhouse yet again this upcoming season and this Steele playmaker will expect to see the brunt of the work in the backfield. With the departure of QB Xavier Martin, C.J. Williams, and a plethora of other offensive weapons, one can see Brady increase his number of touches; perhaps leading to more yards and scores in the process.
Brady indicated that his recruiting process is in its early stages, and with his family being involved with his decision, there will be many talks around the dinner table involving his decision. Whenever he intends to land after his Steele playing days are over, one can guarantee that the prospect they are receiving can be a vital cog in the makeup of their program. It is not often that a player with the intangibles that Brendan Brady has is on the table, and the faster college coaches recognize this, the faster they might see that this rising senior can change the course of their program for better.
