District 6-6A has belonged to the Allen Eagles for 11 consecutive seasons and that’s not going to change in 2017.
The Eagles return a tremendous amount of Division I talent from a team that went 14-1 in 2016 before falling to The Woodlands in the state semifinals, and now returns with a chip on its shoulder. Allen replaces a pair of quality products in the backfield in quarterback Mitchell Jonke and running back Kirby Bennett, but this may actually prove beneficial for the Eagles. Four-star 2019 gunslinger Grant Tisdale takes over under center with elite wide receiver Theo Wease Jr. at his disposal, while Brock Sturges will now be the featured back after a stellar junior campaign.
Not only are the Eagles built for yet another District 6-6A crown, but they have the pieces to bring another state championship back to Allen in 2017.

District 6-6A has some interesting teams that could make some noise, but at the top sits the machine known as the Allen Eagles. The Eagles dominated their district last year, going 7-0 and winning those games by an average of 37 points.
After making the move up from 5A, Denton Guyer could present to be the biggest challenge for Allen again in 2017. But without running back Noah Cain (who transferred to IMG Academy), the task for the Wildcats was made a bit more challenging.
As for the Eagles, they have plenty of losses as well but I like what they have coming back on offense in receiver Theo Wease and running back Brock Sturges. As for the signal caller, Grant Tisdale is expected to take the reins and should be able to settle in to his position. The Eagles are still loaded and until they get knocked off, they should be able to take care of business and win the district title again.

With District 6-6A the song remains the same to the tune of the Allen Eagles who seem primed for another district title. Allen remains supreme especially with the return of receiver Theo Wese and running back Brock Sturges who compose a dynamic duo for the Allen offense. Defensive Newcomer of the Year Jayden Jernigan will also be causing chaos along the line on the defensive line.
Denton Guyer will be nipping at the heels of Allen after finishing with a 9-3 season but will also have someone else right behind them looking to strike in the form of Plano East.
Plano East saw their stock rise significantly last season as they made the playoffs for a second consecutive season. Despite the loss of some big name talent, the mindset at Plano East has now shifted to a program ready to make an even bigger mark.
The district looks to once again have Allen on top but keep an eye out on the race that will be going on between Guyer and Plano East as it should keep the Texas high school football community on the edge.

No surprises here – I’m taking Allen. The Eagles are too talented on every side of the ball, and their biggest obstacle, Denton Guyer, has lost Noah Cain. There’s plenty of talent in this district, but Allen has found a way to turn that talent into consistent wins.
There’s plenty of reasons that Allen is going to take this district. It starts on offense with Brock Sturges, Grant Tisdale, and Theo Wease. The Eagle secondary is going to be great as well, and Jayden Jernigan has the potential to be the next great Allen defender.
There are lots of good teams in this district, but Allen next year might be a state title contender. I think the Eagles are on a different level.
