The district race last year came down between Austin Bowie and San Marcos at the end of the regular season and Bowie ended up wiping out San Marcos 59-7.

Heading into 2017, the Bulldogs look just as strong with offensive MVP Aizayah Santiago back for his senior season and a defense that brings back six players who were either first or second-team all-district a year ago. San Marcos and Del Valle should also be better, but Austin Bowie is still the class of the district.

Prediction: Austin Bowie

Cody Daniel

Austin Bowie cruised through district 14-6A in 2016 and that’s not expected to change much in 2017. The Bulldogs do lose a fair amount of talent, primarily on the offensive line and in the linebacking corps, as well as the departure of the district MVP in running back Dalynn Threadgill, but much returns.

Wade Smith’s replacement at quarterback will have a stout receiving corps to connect with in Offensive MVP Aizayah Santiago and Elijah Higgins, and the defense should be fairly stacked with an all-district caliber secondary, as well.

Prediction: Austin Bowie

Hunter Cooke

San Marcos has a lot of young talent returning and Del Valle looks like they may be ready to take the next step.

That said, Austin Bowie has the depth and the experience from last year’s run to the third round to help guide them this season. I’m really excited to see what defensive newcomer of the year M’Elijah Wesley can do at defensive end as well.

Prediction: Austin Bowie

Jonathan Rodriguez

Last year it came to a showdown between Austin Bowie and San Marcos with Austin Bowie coming out the victor. Bowie showed its dominance against San Marcos who had to rattle off five straight wins to put themselves in the picture for a chance at the district title.
Bowie returns some talent at the skills position including receiver Elijah Higgins, defensive backs Pierce Withers, Joshua Smythe-Macaulay and Quintavious Buckner. Defensive lineman Cooper Laake and linebacker Brennan Rogers are back to lead the way up front.

Give me Austin Bowie for the talent they will be showcasing on the defensive side of the ball.

Prediction: Austin Bowie
