For many years, the Dallas Cowboys have been dubbed as “America’s Team”. They can also add the title of “World’s Most Valuable Team.” In a list released by Forbes on Wednesday, the Cowboys had been dubbed the most valuable sports team in the world, worth a whopping $4.2 billion. It is the second year in a row that the Cowboys have earned that distinction.

Per Kurt Badenhausen, the team generate an NFL-record revenue of $700 million, which is $177 million more than any other team. Dallas is also one of 29 NFL teams to make the annual Top 50 list. The Houston Texans finished in the top half of the list, ranking 20th with a worth of $2.6 billion.

The Cowboys (and the rest of the NFL owners) have seen their revenues jump dramatically thanks to the $7 billion per year TV package as well as the relocations of the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, and soon-to-be Las Vegas Raiders.

Owner Jerry Jones has had oversight on the dramatic growth of his team ever since he bought the team in 1989 for $150 million dollars. The well-recognized figure of the Cowboys has most recently had his hand on projects that include AT&T Stadium and the construction of The Star, the new practice facility in Frisco which has already hosted several Texas high school football games since it opened last year.

Jones will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio in August. The Cowboys open preseason play against the Arizona Cardinals on August 5 and start the regular season at home on September 10 against the New York Giants.
