If you’re still trying to get tickets to one of the biggest games of the weekend in the state, you are most likely out of luck. The highly anticipated showdown between the Carthage Bulldogs and the Gilmer Buckeyes officially sold out as of Wednesday afternoon, per Gilmer High School principal Brian Bowman.

The matchup of East Texas powers pits the top two teams in the state in Class 4A according to the AP rankings with the defending state champion Bulldogs taking the top spot and the host Buckeyes at No. 2.
In last year’s matchup, Carthage used a 21-3 fast quarter to defeat the Buckeyes last year at Bulldog Stadium. As both teams head to Jeff Traylor Stadium on Saturday night, head coach Matt Turner will have his Buckeyes looking to exact some revenge.
The teams face off on Saturday night at 7 p.m. CST in Gilmer.

It’s sold because Gilmer’s stadium only has 7,000 seating capacity. Why is this not being held at a larger venue again??
Because Carthage wanted a home game last year so that means Gilmer has home field this year. Carthage does not seat much more than Gilmer does.
Carthage’ stadium actually has less seating than Gilmer.
