Sachse is led on offense by senior signal-caller Jalen Mayden, who has racked up 642 yards and 10 touchdowns in the air. He proved his promise as a dual-threat option, toom accounting for 160 yards and four scores on the ground. Christian Cole, who has collected 500 yards on 60 carries with five touchdowns, joins Mayden to form a dynamic backfield duo.
Mayden also has more than a few prime receiving targets in his arsenal, namely Trent Dean (137 yards receiving, 4 TDs), Derrick Rose (136 yards receiving, 3 TDs), and Drue Jackson (132 yards receiving, 1 TD).
Lakeview Centennial endured a rough start to its 2017 campaign, starting out with losses in their first three games. Despite a three-game, season-opening skid against decent teams — including a currently undefeated West Mesquite squad in week three — the Patriots rallied to earn back-to-back wins. One was a 48-22 win over South Garland to open district play.
Jarret Adams has played in all five games for the Patriots under center, recording 428 yards and one touchdown, while Jaylen Jones (273 yards passing and 4 TDs) also recorded decent numbers as a signal-caller in just two games. Te’Darius Herford showed effectiveness as a rusher for Lakeview Centennial, collecting 393 yards and four touchdowns in all five games.
Sachse rolled through district play last season but Lakeview Centennial provided perhaps the tougher test out of all, scoring the most points against the Mustangs in 10-6A play. As game day approaches, bot pundit and player alike are left with the resounding questions: Can the Patriots harness their newfound momentum or will Sachse continue to steamroll its opponents?
