Editor’s Note: During the UIL State Championships at AT&T Stadium, TexasHSFootball will be presenting an MVP award of the game as voted on by the fans in partnership with VCRNow. For more information on how to vote, click here.

For the first 12-plus minutes of the Class 3A Division I state championship, things were not going well for the Rockdale Tigers. Down 21-0, a turnaround had to happen quickly and to spark that turnaround, the Tigers leaned on their star quarterback Torry Locklin to make plays and he did so in droves.

The senior quarterback finished with 433 total yards (212 yards rushing, 202 passing yards, 19 receiving) and five total touchdowns. Locklin led his team to 45 unanswered points, the first state title for Rockdale since 1976 and also earned the TexasHSFootball MVP presented by VCRNow.

Locklin also continues a family legacy with his father leading the Tigers to their last state title game back in 1976. Now, as he closes his high school career, he goes out with a strong legacy of his own.

As the winner of the MVP award, Locklin will receive a commemorative custom MVP football, a full scholarship to the Football University Camp of their choice as well as an image collage.
