MANSFIELD, TEXAS — One of the top remaining uncommitted defensive prospects will be taking his talents out of state. Mansfield safety Cam’ron Jones announced his commitment to Nebraska on Saturday night.
The four-star safety chose the Huskers over other finalists Ole Miss and Baylor per a breaking report by 247Sports. Jones made the announcement during the Inside High School Sports TV program in Dallas.

Jones was a standout for the Tigers in 2017. After transferring from Euless Trinity, the star safety led the way with 106 tackles, two forced fumbles, two kick returns for touchdowns, and an interception.
He was also named District 4-6A Defensive MVP for his efforts and was a key part of a defense that helped the Tigers finish 11-2 on the season.

The one-time UCLA commit decommitted in December following the firing of then head coach Jim Mora. Nebraska offered just days after his announcement.
Jones is the first commitment from the Lone Star State in the Class of 2018 for the Huskers. Under new head coach Scott Frost, there is a chance he will be able to see the field early on in Lincoln.
