According to the 247sports.com recruiting rankings, Galena Park North Shore standout Zach Evans is now ranked second at his position. He still holds 5-star status according to the website’s composite rankings, which calculates multiple recruiting services into one.
The top spot now belongs to Arizona running back and Texas commit Bijan Robinson.
Evans’ recruiting journey has been an up-and-down process the past few months, and his elite status makes him a high-profile athlete, who seems to constantly be in the spotlight.
From being benched in the state championship game to being released from his National Letter of Intent to Georgia, the microscope is always upon him.
And it is only magnifying.
A player moving up and down in the rankings is completely normal, but due to everything surrounding Evans, it’s being discussed more than it would with most players, especially because he held the lofty status for several years.
Among others, Evans has been linked to LSU, but with Lancaster running back Kevontre Bradford recently committing to the Tigers, it is unclear if that is a potential landing spot anymore.
He recently visited Tennessee, which wasn’t in his top five schools originally.
No information to the reason for his release from Georgia has been given, and with him now adding schools to visit, it makes one wonder what exactly has been going in the process.
This is already a recruitment people will remember, and it isn’t over yet.
