Zachary Evans breaks social media silence

In what has been the most whirlwind recruiting stories probably in the history of Texas high school football and maybe in the nation, news broke Monday morning of Galena Park North Shore’s Zachary Evans enrolling at TCU. The five-star standout, however, had not yet confirmed or denied the rumors.

With a period of social media silence dating back to early January with the exception of four retweets on Twitter and randomly going “live” on his Instagram story, there was no sign of Evans himself. Monday afternoon, Evans broke his silence by tweeting a simple purple heart emoji next to a frog emoji:

Since his initial tweet, nearly 1,000 fans have reacted to the news. Evans’ former North Shore teammate, Kee’yon Stewart quote retweeted Evans’ announcement with “Remember what I told you brudda… it’s time now!” Stewart played his first season in a Horned Frogs uniform in 2019.

Evans’ simple response back to Stewart was:

With the silence broken, Evans is headed to TCU where he is reportedly already enrolled in summer courses. The North Shore product marks TCU’s first ever five-star recruit and one of the highest rated recruits for TCU since 2009.
